Ladakh Adventure | Day-by-Day Itinerary Explained

Day 1 Arrival in Leh & Acclimatization

Welcome to Leh! Our crew will pick you up from the airport and drop you off at your pre-booked rooms at Sangalay Palace, where you'll settle in and enjoy a day of rest to acclimate to the altitude.

In the evening, followed by a medical checkup, meet fellow travelers and our crew for a briefing on the adventure ahead, covering route details, essential safety tips, do's and don'ts, and the distribution of goodie bags with maps and essential items.

End the night with an early dinner and rest to prepare for the days ahead.

Day 2 Leh to Dah Hanu - 220 km

  • Route Highlights:
    • Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a revered Sikh shrine
    • Magnetic Hill, with its gravity-defying allure
    • Indus-Zanskar Confluence at Sangam
    • Alchi Monastery, one of Ladakh's oldest sanctuaries
  • Plan: Start the day early by handing over your luggage to our crew, breakfast at 7:30 am, and a warmup and safety briefing. The ride starts at 8:30 am, with lunch along the route.

    Reach Dah Hanu by early evening (6 pm), settling into a pre-booked hotel. After dinner, enjoy a fireside briefing for the next day.

Day 3Dah Hanu to Leh - 170 km

  • Route Highlights: A school visit to meet local children and gain insight into rural Ladakhi life, followed by a cultural tour of a local village to experience traditional lifestyle and crafts.
  • Plan: Start the day by submitting your luggage to our crew and head to have breakfast at 7:30 am, followed by a quick warmup and briefing. The ride starts at 8:30 am.

    Return to Leh by 5 pm, with lunch on the way. Evening at leisure, briefing at 8 pm, and dinner.

Day 4Leh to Hundar via Khardung La - 180 km

  • Route Highlights:
    • Khardung La (one of the highest motorable passes globally)
    • Diskit Monastery (home to a towering Buddha statue and incredible valley views)
    • Move down towards the scenic Nubra Valley
  • Plan: An early start day due to the Kardunga La crossing. Submit your luggage to our crew and go for breakfast at 7:00 am followed by a briefing. The ride starts at 8:00 am.

    Ride to South Pullu for document checks and continue to Khardung La. Limit your stay at Khardung La to 15 minutes due to the high altitude (click photos and enjoy the serenity). Halt for lunch in between then ride till T Junction, fuel up, and move towards Diskit Monastery. The evening will be leisure, followed by a briefing for the next day at 8 pm, followed by dinner.

Day 5 Turtuk Day Visit - 180 km

  • Route Highlights:
    • Turtuk Village, a culturally rich Balti settlement near the Indo-Pak border
    • Balti Heritage House and Museum
    • Royal House of Yabgo Khar
    • Polo Ground
    • Waterfall
    • Apricot Vineyards
  • Plan: Leave your luggage in the rooms. After breakfast at 7:30 am, gather for a small brief, and physical warmup session to open your muscles and reflexes before starting the ride. The ride starts at 8:30 am.

    Arrive at Turtuk Village by 11 am for a guided village tour, followed by lunch. Visit the Polo Ground, Waterfall, and Apricot Vineyards before returning to Hundar by 6/7 pm.

    The evening is a dedicated fun time accompanied by BBQ, bonfire, and light music at 8 pm (for the next 2-3 hours) for a relaxed gathering, followed by dinner at 9 pm.

Day 6 Rest Day in Hundar

  • Activities:
    • Double-humped camel safari across Nubra's sand dunes (complimentary)
    • Additional activities like ATV rides (paid), ziplining (paid), and archery (paid).
  • Plan: Leisurely morning with breakfast. After lunch at a local restaurant (open-air multi-cuisine restaurant), enjoy the camel safari and optional activities. Watch the sunset over the dunes and return to the hotel by 7 pm. Evening briefing at 8 pm followed by dinner.

Day 7 Hundar to Pangong Lake - 170 km

  • Route Highlights:
    • Scenic ride with breathtaking views and encounters with local yaks and marmots.
  • Plan: Submit your luggage to the crew and head for breakfast at 7:30 am. Gather for a quick briefing and physical warmup session and start the ride at 8:30 am. Lunch on the way, reaching Pangong Lake by 4 pm.

    Enjoy an evening stroll along the lake's edge, with time to capture photos. Dinner and medical checkup at 8 pm.

Day 8 Pangong Lake to Hanle - 180 km

  • Route Highlights:
    • Hanle Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh.
    • Hanle Observatory, with access to telescopes for stargazing and a glimpse of the Milky Way.
  • Plan: Submit your luggage to our crew and head for breakfast at 7:30 am. Get ready for a small briefing and physical warmup to energize your body. The ride starts at 8:30 am.

    Enjoy the scenic route alongside Pangong Lake for the next 2-3 hours. Capture the beauty under lenses and click photos at some spots. Lunch is en route, and arrival in Hanle is by 4 pm. If time permits, visit Hanle Monastery and Observatory. Evening telescope session for stargazing. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 9 Hanle to Umling La and Return - 160 km

  • Route Highlights: Ride to Umling La, the world's highest motorable road at over 19,000 feet.
  • Plan: Breakfast at 7:30 am, followed by a small briefing and physical warmup session, with a ride starting at 8:30 am. Lunch at a Cafe at Umling La and time for photos at the top before returning to Hanle. Evening celebration with dinner to commemorate this thrilling achievement.

Day 10 Hanle to Leh - 260 km

  • Route Highlights: Scenic Hanle Wetlands, hot sulphur springs at Chumathang.
  • Plan: Submit your luggage to our crew and head for breakfast at 7:30 am, followed by a quick briefing and warmup session. The ride will start at 8:30 pm. Stop for lunch near the Chumathang hot springs and arrive in Leh by 4 pm.

    The evening will be a success celebration with a bonfire, local folk dance, starters, and drinks, ending the night with a gala dinner.

Day 11 Rest Day in Leh

  • Activities: No ride day. Sightseeing via four-wheeler to the Hall of Fame Museum, Leh Market for souvenirs, Leh Palace, and Shanti Stupa for a sunset view.
  • Plan: A relaxed day, starting late. Begin sightseeing at noon, exploring Leh's cultural highlights and markets, and return to the hotel by 7 pm. Evening dinner and final night's rest.

Day 12 Departure from Leh

Final goodbyes and send-off. Our crew will pick up your luggage, finalize everything, and drop you at the airport, based on flight schedules.

What's Excluded?

  • Cost of lunch, flights, personal expenses, room service, alcoholic beverages, riding gear, insurance, spare parts, medical costs, video camera charges, and additional accommodation or cost due to unforeseen delays (health issues, vehicle breakdown on accruing from land blocks, bad weather, etc.).
  • Any fine due to traffic rule violation or any penalties.
  • Cost incurred due to spare parts damaged due to any rider's fault.
  • Non-included Activities: ATV rides, ziplining, archery, and alcohol.
  • Refundable Deposit: A $300 deposit is required for the motorcycle.

Do's & Don'ts for Riders

  • Discipline is Key:

    Riders should maintain strict discipline at all times during the journey.

  • Luggage Limitations:

    Each rider is allowed only one piece of luggage (up to 30 kg) and a small backpack. These items will be transported separately in the luggage van.

  • Report Any Issues Promptly:

    If you face any difficulties, share them immediately with the Ride Manager or Ride Marshal.

  • Stay Charged:

    Carry extra batteries or a power bank for your camera and mobile phone, as power availability may be limited in certain areas.

  • Hydrate Regularly:

    Keep yourself hydrated throughout the journey. It's recommended to carry a hydration pack or water bottle.

  • Bring Required Medications:

    If you have allergies or are undergoing medical treatment, ensure you bring all necessary medications with you.

  • Seek Permission Before Photography:

    If required, get permission from the person in charge before taking any photos.

  • Carry Essential Documents:

    Keep all your essential documents with you, including your passport, driving license (IDP), medical insurance, and any other necessary identification.

  • Wear Proper Riding Gear:

    Wearing approved riding gear, including a helmet and protective clothing, is mandatory. Riders without proper gear will not be allowed to participate.

  • No Alcohol or Illegal Substances:

    Riding under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substances is strictly prohibited.

  • Avoid Plastic Bags:

    Refrain from carrying plastic bags to reduce environmental impact.

  • Respect the Environment:

    Avoid disturbing the scenic landscapes and local ecosystems while riding, trekking, or exploring. Leave natural and cultural sites as you found them.

  • Stick to Marked Trails:

    Always follow marked trails to avoid getting lost or disturbing delicate ecosystems.
